My elderly father went to Dr. Rayford seeking a 2nd opinion regarding his cancer diagnosis. Another urologist diagnosed my father with Stage 3 prostate CA & advised that he shouldn't treat it but enjoy his last days on Earth instead. During the 1st appointment with Dr. Rayford, I cried as I explained what the other urologist told my dad. Dr. Rayford was EMPATHETIC & advised that he would be happy to help my dad. He devised a treatment plan (Lupron injections) & referred him to Dr. Chen - an oncologist at St Francis hospital (another wonderful physician). My dad underwent the CyberKnife (fully robotic radiotherapy) procedure under the care of Dr. Chen. I'm happy to say that the combination of treatment options worked. My father is doing well & enjoying life. Dr. Rayford's bedside manner inspired me to apply to medical school. I'll be a non-traditional medical student in August 2023.When minority doctors treat minority patients, those patients experience better health & lower mortality.
