There are concerns about harms of artificial sweeteners. One of the concerns is that they could cause cancer.
Well, in fact, no studies have demonstrated that these sweeteners cause cancer in humans. This perception came from years ago,
when research showed that saccharin may be linked to cancer in animals. But through the years, it has never
been demonstrated in humans. And because of that, the FDA actually pulled artificial sweeteners from the list of cancer
causing chemicals. [MUSIC PLAYING] Now, another concern people may have is that they can cause neurologic damage.
Also, this has been refuted in the scientific literature. There are no studies that show that these products cause
any problem on the brain or on learning behavior. And for parents who are concerned whether their children may be impacted, no,
there are no studies that demonstrate that artificial sweeteners can damage the brain. [MUSIC PLAYING]
