When I came off life-support, I had no idea I'd need to learn to walk, talk, chew, swallow, write my name, etc. When I began those endeavors, I was assigned to Dr. Rose, who specializes in the treatment of brain injuries, ie Epilepsy, Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, ADHD, Parkinson's, etc. I did not expect such an enormous strain on me, emotionally, to recover from the effects of life-support machines and day-to-care in cardiac rehab .. not to mention the physical+ emotional changes my [new life-maybe, new brain] would bring me: add all that to the difficulty of a family trying to cope with the unknown! After life-support machines & meds, it's recommended to see a neuropsychologist for up to 12 months, so I am: I'm still benefiting from Doc's guidance, expertise, (esp in Epilepsy), precision to detail, and interest in teaching: this is NOT just a "listening" doctor - he listens AND teaches. He oversees my entire care, recommends treatments, such as balance therapy & I am ever grateful.
