A psychiatrist is different from talk therapy, and Dr. A was an efficient psych in that he asked pointed questions to diagnose and treat and acted professionally and appropriately as a clinician. Those seeking to unpack their life stories in depth at every visit should supplement psychiatry and med management with counseling psychology in most cases. I felt the experience was good despite scheduling hiccups that were not on the doctor himself and that he acted and quickly and expertly to help untangle the convoluted web that is mental health.
