In an era characterized by statistics, we tend to forget that institutions are buttressed by the indefatigable efforts of human beings who inspire trust. My assertion was confirmed during a colonoscopy procedure with Dr. Alan Lesman at the Advantage Care Physicians Flushing Gastroenterology Annex. My family holds Dr. Lesman in the highest possible regard. My parents benefitted from his medical expertise and my late father was particularly fond of Dr. Lesman's medical guidance and interventions. Clearly, Dr. Lesman was one of the reasons my father led a fulfilling life until 95. Dr. Lesman is the quintessential professional who happens to be a lovely gentleman. His characteristic poise is not self-aggrandizing and he is never condescending when interacting with patients who do not feel like vulnerable, fixed entities. Surely, he is the type of doctor who knows how to inspire long-term loyalty. It is easy following a doctor's advice when you want him to be proud of your efforts.
