My mom had a very bad brain aneurysm in the late 1980’s. She was in her 50’s. That was many years ago and I still remember Dr D looking at us, while she was laying, noncoherent, in that hospital bed. He told me he could get the nurses to bring a brush in so I could fix her hair. We did and My mother would have loved that, that small act of care and kindness. She ultimately died from that aneurysm after two surgeries but till this day, almost 36 years ago I still remember his kind and compassionate nature. I have never ever forgotten him. My dad, never remarried after losing her and he died 2 years ago at age 93. Dr Drapkin was a brilliant surgeon but even better person. He truly cared.
