In 2013, after 10-15 years of suffering from bursitis pain in both hips and two years of not being able to walk more than half a block I sought out a hip specialist at OHSU. My primary care only took X-rays and never did an MRI. One visit with Dr Herzka and an immediate MRI showed I had a very rare condition called tendonopathy. About an inch of my tendon had detached from my hip bone!She said she only knew of two other doctors who did this type of surgery and one was in New York and the other in Mexico City. She was the specialist on tendonopathy and the trainer for other surgeons for the entire Pacific Northwest!I had the surgery in short order and she split my IT band because it was too tight, removed the entire bursa which had burst open (it grows back) then lifted up the tendon and re-attached it to the greater trochanter hip bone with two screws. SHE GAVE ME MY MOBILITY BACK! God bless her. I am forever grateful.
