Dr. Schumacher was the only male doctor on my team of caring professionals during my cancer journey. I had initially intended to work with women exclusively, although after our initial consultation I was assured that he was more than capable to partner with through the radiation phase of my treatment. He was consistently thoughtful and considerate of my feelings. Cancer is just as much a mental journey as it is a physical journey. His bedside manner was warm, thoughtful, relatable and compassionate. Ultimately Dr. Schumacher treated me with the utmost respect. For example, if I was exposed while in the radiation room, he would announce himself upon entering, which I always appreciated. Additionally, his staff of Radiation Therapists were extremely considerate, compassionate and professional. I enjoyed getting to know them and felt safe in their care.
