Patient Reviews
May 07, 2024
Dr. Andrew Shanahan treated me during and after 3 days I spent in Penn Medicine Princeton Health hospital in 2024. When I was admitted after a suspected heart attack (a diagnosis that was later revised), Dr. Shanahan visited me to explain that he was trying to schedule me for a catheterization ASAP. He had a wonderful bedside manner, explaining everything about my symptoms and the catheterization in an easy-to-understand way that reassured me. I felt lucky to be in the hands of a doctor so experienced in doing that procedure. After the procedure, he came to my room to check on the femoral puncture. When he saw that it was draining blood, he used his hand to apply pressure to it for a period of 15-30 minutes until the draining lessened. I was grateful for this unexpected hands-on treatment, during which he amiably chatted with my husband and me. Eight days after the catheterization, Dr. Shanahan also fit me into his busy office schedule so he could check on swelling that concerned me.

Board Certifications
What’s a board certification and why is it important that my provider has one?

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams. While not all specialties have board certifications, if your provider does have one they’ve taken the extra step to master their specialty and to keep up with the latest advancements in their field.
