I worked with Dr Makela in Germany. She was a wonderful supervisor. Her character was honest, caring, and empathic. I could always depend on time to speak with her as needed. Her interactions with me were always honest, forthright, and helpful. When my contract ended she showed great appreciation for my work. She did not have to, but went out of her way to insure I had a smooth transition back to the US. What I respected most about her, was her deep empathy for the soldiers who came to our clinic for help. I recall several time needing to arrange special treatment for soldiers and the Captain always was there to assist in whatever I requested. On my last day there, I missed the chance to let her now my deep appreciation for the many ways she not only helped me but went out of her way to insure our soldiers received the very best care.
