After a horrific ER visit to Banner with level 10 abdominal pain, where I never even saw a Dr., I saw my PCP and was referred for an ultrasound which revealed gallstones. Dr. Levine scheduled me for surgery the next day! The procedure was explained to my satifaction and went as planned but I feel that the post op pain was downplayed a bit. This was a painful experience! First word I spoke upon waking from surgery was "pain"! I can't believe that this is considered an outpatient procedure. The nurse was rushing me to get up and get dressed within minutes(hospital policy). I was NOT ready! Dr. Levine suggested that the first 36 hours would be the worst of it. I'd say the first 4-5 days were excruciating and I developed a 101.7 fever on the 3rd day. The fever was not due to infection. Ironically, I just got a cold or flu while in the cold hospital designed to reduce the chance of infection. Unfortunately, my sypmtoms persist. Dr. Levine did his job well. I will see a GI specialist next...
