l went to Dr. Gutierrez with symptoms of a high heart rate while cycling (155 bpm) and low blood pressure. He ran pulmonary function tests which showed mild asthma (that I knew I had) and mild COPD which I did NOT know I had. He treated the COPD and I was able to resume my cycling. HOWEVER, he saved my life by ordering a low dose chest PT in the fall of 2023 which showed stable nodules. He repeated scans and in April 2024 I was diagnosed with lung cancer though a biopsy Dr. Gutierrez. He followed up immediately with his colleagues and made sure I had quick appointments with a surgeon and oncologist. A lung node was removed and the cancer was GONE. No chemo and No radiation. His proactive stance saved my life. Also, I was waiting for my cancer diagnosis and I could hear a patient talking for a long time with Dr. G. When he came in my room, I thanked him for taking time to listen to a patient who obviously needed to be heard. Dr. G responded, 'Some times that is all I can do.'
