Dr. Berde is wonderful. He is extremely good at difficult and complicated nerve blocks.Boston Childrens unfortunately has adopted a very backwards and archaic pain management strategy. This is coming from inside the Hospital Administration, above even the Division Director for the Pain Department. Dr. Berde isn’t allowed to use his skills even if it’s the only hope for a patient. Cleveland Clinic got a 5 million dollar grant for stem cells for CRPS and Boston Childrens is trying to convince people Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is cutting edge treatment. BCH doesn’t even distinguish PTSD from life management skills and sells the same therapy to everyone regardless of their neuropsychological report. So the Department has gone down hill and is a glorified therapist office with PT they also don’t taylor to a persons individual condition but that’s outside of Dr. Berde’s control; he’s amazing and BCH should let him do more.
