I have had Juvenile Ideopathic Arthritis for most of my life. I was diagnosed as a child and some rheumatologists aren't familiar with the childhood disease, and more familiar with the older onset disease. Seeing as I have had Arthritis for a good portion of my life I have taken almost every medication possible to treat it. My previous Rheumatologist was incredibly insensitive and didn't listen to my concerns. I switched to Dr. Sharkey and couldn't be happier. She is amazing. She takes the time out to listen to me and works WITH me to find the best treatment possible. She listens to my concerns and respects my decision to not take medication that wasn't effective in the past. She is genuinely interested in my life and my treatment. She explains things well and has my best interests at heart. I am so happy I found her and I would recommend her to anyone dealing with Juvenile Arthritis.
