Dr. Tonks visited with my husband on his rounds at UH Elyria and did what the other doctors were unable to do - diagnose the reason he was there with critically low sodium levels & pneumonia. Because of an experience that Dr. Tonks had early in his career he had my husband tested for the rare legionella bacteria and started him on a specific antibiotic for that. 24 hours later the test came back positive for Legionnaires Disease. The other 2 antibiotics my husband was on were able to be stopped & the one Dr. Tonks put him on was the only one he needed and my husband is now recovering nicely. Had it not been discovered, he may not be here today. We didn't know Dr. Tonks prior to this, but he is our hero. Recommend him for his bedside manner, compassion, and desire to find the root cause. Thank you, Dr. Tonks <3
