Patient Reviews
Jan 21, 2023
Over the 2023 New Year I underwent emergency surgery and had a procedure called a Hartmann colectomy as a result of a perforated diverticulum. While Dr. Refoua was not the surgeon that removed part of my colon and intestines, he was one of the doctors overseeing my recovery while I was in LIJ. I got to see him daily as he checked on me often. I found Dr. Refoua to be very direct and to the point when we spoke. He didn't tell me what I wanted to hear; he told me what I needed to hear to get well enough to go home. I believe it was because of his direct no nonsense approach that I was able to leave the hospital a week earlier than expected. He also took the time to explain things to me which was extremely important as I was petrified of my situation. He would explain things to me in such a way that usually it eased or calmed my fears. I found Dr. Refoua to be an excellent doctor that took a personal interest in my wellbeing. Thank you Dr. Refoua for helping to save my life.

Board Certifications
What’s a board certification and why is it important that my provider has one?

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams. While not all specialties have board certifications, if your provider does have one they’ve taken the extra step to master their specialty and to keep up with the latest advancements in their field.
