From the initial consultation with Dr. Roque and his surgical team, I felt I was in great hands. The time and care spent in explaining to me and my husband what my hysterectomy would entail, including the aftercare, did so much to put both of our minds at ease. You can probably imagine the anxiety that comes with a cancer diagnosis and learning that you need a complete hysterectomy. I truly felt like his team cared whether I lived or died. And, I did survive, and I never doubted anything else would be the case. I thank God for connecting me with Dr. Roque. I am literally a better person for having known him. And I can’t forget to mention how little pain I was in after my surgery. Three days later, I was completely pain-free. As a woman of color, having this level of confidence in a surgical team is not an easy feat. I feel truly blessed.
