I saw Dr. Steinhauer for 3 years after moving to the Chicago area for school. I was going through a big transition and was nervous about living in a new state and seeing a new doctor. That being said, it quickly became evident to me that I had nothing to worry about as Dr. Steinhauer created a welcoming and flexible environment for me to share my struggles with mental health. It is clear she really makes the time to get to know her patients and provide them with the best counseling possible. I've had my ups and downs and Dr. Steinhauer always made it clear that she was listening to me and trying to understand my perspective. Further, she was extremely helpful in assisting me with figuring out what medication would be right for me and following up when certain medicines did not work; she was also patient and communicative when it came to medicine that was out of stock or required extra work to call in. As such, if you are in the area and looking for a psychiatrist, I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Steinhauer!!!
