I had my first surgery last week and went under general anesthesia. I have very high anxiety and was feeling very nervous. The nurse messed up my iv and poked my arm over and over. I was so ill from pain I was literally fading in and out of being aware of the room. The anesthesiologist came in at this time. Of all of the people I encountered before surgery began, he was the only one I felt like spent the time to make sure I was feeling okay. He helped get the iv placed and made sure it was comfortable. He then reassured me that I was safe and had a conversation with me about family, my kids, and hobbies. He was so calm and his bedside manner was so great. He took me back to surgery himself and kept me talking and calm. I wish I would have had the opportunity to thank him for caring about my well being. He was my saving grace, that’s for sure! Thank you Dr. Peterson! Also, my going to sleep and waking up was seamless. The anesthesia was the easiest part of surgery.

What’s a board certification and why is it important that my provider has one?

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams. While not all specialties have board certifications, if your provider does have one they’ve taken the extra step to master their specialty and to keep up with the latest advancements in their field.
