I had a knee preop and because of my age I needed to see a doctor who could assess my aging status. Though initially questioning why I needed such an assessment, I quickly understood why people over the 70 need to be assessed for their mental as well as physical abilities. Just because you might not feel old there are risks with the ability to recover from major operations and the hospital really needs to make sure you can handle it. He was just a great doctor.
