Dr. McAfee and Coastal staff are extraordinarily efficient without forgetting the patients perspective. Dr. McAfee performed stapedectomy procedures, for my right and left ears. The results speak for themselves in that I went back for seconds. He was cautiously optimistic and framed the benefits and potential pitfalls clearly. One of the simplest gestures a surgeon can make is giving their time in explaining and taking questions. Dr. McAfee not only understands this and delivers, but also recognizes when he is speaking to someone with a hearing deficit and makes the effort to communicate accordingly. Dr. McAfee is a "tough love realist" e.g., don't try to get him to bend his recovery rules — he wants you to have a successful outcome and will scold as needed. In this age of low reimbursements, high volume and CoVid Dr. McAfee and his practice strike a good balance of care, performance, timeliness and insurance/billing proficiency that any patient will appreciate.
