How likely are you to recommend Dr. Butler?
Dr Butler was warm and friendly. He asked about my symptoms and specific questions regarding when and how often the pain occurs. He then examined me, confirmed his preliminary diagnosis, and continued to ease my fears of something serious. Proctalgia fugax is what he referenced as the reason for my visit. He described it as a sudden onset of severe sporadic pain in the rectal area, which can last from seconds to minutes, can be without warning, and occurs due to muscle spasms in that area.He next assured me that proctalgia fugax is a benign, non-serious, condition that presents with no abnormality on examination of the rectum or anus. He didn't rush my visit and asked if I had further concerns or questions. I did not and will see him if needed again - and refer him to others.
