I was reminiscing tonight about the delivery of my son. Thirty years ago tomorrow he helped deliver the most precious baby boy. During my c-section he noticed that my left arm had fallen off of the table and asked if it was uncomfortable like that. I looked at him with complete fear in my eyes and told him I couldn’t feel my arm or raise it back up to the table. He immediately took control of the OR demanding that the table be leveled. I was 24 years old delivering my first baby and was terrified. He reassured me that he was going to take care of me and made me feel so much better. Dr. Flowers stayed with me in recovery for several hours. After I regained the strength in my left hand he let me know just what happened. Apparently the OR table had a tilt in it to the upper left corner. Some of the epidural medication went up a lot further than it should have. He explained that if it had gone up any further I would be unable to breathe. I am so thankful this man was at my side.
