Dr. Aquino was my ER doctor before I was admitted at Hoag this past week. I was in the worst pain in my life, and her and my nurse Maddie made it their mission to get me comfortable. They successfully got my pain from a 10 to a 6 for the first time since Christmas. They were extremely thorough and empathetic. I was so relieved literally and figuratively finally getting good care after being transferred out of a different hospital. It turns out I have severe nerve damage in my peroneal nerve that has been causing me excruciating sciatic like pain since Christmas. Unfortunately after being admitted an attending hospitalist came in and cut me off from all of the meds Dr. Aquino found that worked. The new pain specialist changed me to something that didn’t work and my body did not tolerate, and was on that regiment for my entire stays and now at home. I’d like to thank Dr Aquino for at least the few hour break from this unbearable pain and the kindness and empathy.
