I first met Dr. Bacon almost 3 years ago as an IP at SLH-Fountain Hill. He was one of the "rounding" docs evaluating patients. He listened, nodding attentively as did the others; however, glancing across their faces I saw his eye contact with the nodding. After testing, evaluation and treatment plan-my discharge date was set. They continued to round and I chose to hide my anxiety about going home facing my rough road combo of reality & uncertainty thinking fear is the enemy. The docs "rounded" the patients as they did, but this day would be their last as I was going home. Dr. Bacon straggled at the end of passing doctors and came to my bedside as if aware of my fear. He put out his hand introducing himself. He told me I was stronger than I know, wouldn't be here if I wasn't and it's ok to ask 4 help, and then smiled. To this day, I truly don't think he comprehends what that outstretched arm, eye contact and few kind words meant. I continue to see him at StarWellness, Southside Beth.
