In February, ‘24 Dr. Spinks conducted a video consultation for acute gout. During my description of symptoms, I casually mentioned that the evening prior I felt some upper torso warmth and pressure following dinner, dismissing it as a simple spike in blood sugar. I continued to describe my gout symptoms when Dr. Spinks abruptly interrupted me and asked me to repeat what I felt after dinner. Frankly, I thought he was over-reacting as it was not the first time I had this experience in recent weeks. He immediately ordered an appointment with cardiology. “Over-reacting doctor!” I thought to myself, until my cardiology tests confirmed elevated artery calcification, high cholesterol and elevated blood pressure. I never would have gone to see a cardiologist if it were not for Dr. Spinks, and that eventually could have led to a heart attack or stroke. Drastic changes made to improve my health and I feel great! THANK YOU to Dr. Spinks for his valued competence—and superior listening skills!
