Patient Reviews
Oct 26, 2023
Writing this review for my wife. In 2020 early COVID days she woke me up early one morning laying on the floor screaming in pain from somewhere in her abdomen. No prior issues before this. We went to Ascension St. Teresa ER twice that day where they treated the pain with fentanyl and admitted her for 4 days with no resolution. They dismissed her and we went immediately to our gastro Dr. Lievens (highly recommend) and after hearing all the info he told her to go immediately to St. Francis and said he would have Dr. Howes take her in as his patient. A couple days of tests go by and no answers and finally Dr. Howes comes into the room and says he is going to do exploratory robotic surgery to see if he can determine the issue even though no other doctor agreed with him. After surgery Dr Howes showed her the issue which was what they call an internal hernia which is where the stomach lining grows over the intestine and chokes the blood supply off. She would have died in a couple of days!
