Thirty years ago I went to Dr. Blum upon a recommendation from my father -an Internal Medicine Cardiologist. I was 40 years old. My sister age 39 at the time had been diagnosed with malignant breast cancer. I had had two benign tumors removed from my breasts at age 30. My breast surgeon demanded double mastectomy for me. Dr. Blum took hours listening, talking, deciding on how to approach this for me. She took some biopsies and found nothing suspicious. She agreed to let me go on with a mammogram every 6 months. I am 70 years old and never a questionable mammogram My breast surgeon was furious. Said I was playing Russian roulette. My sister had 4 years of all types of chemo in Denver, a double mastectomy, eye surgeries from the chemo, but is marching on. She was not Dr Blums patient. I think of Dr Blum always and cannot be more grateful or thankful.
