I have seen about 10 pain doctors over the last 20 years. Most just focus on meds or shots. Dr. Bouffard and the team at RIC (Shirley Ryan) really focus on the person and create individual treatments. Dr. Bouffard is not afraid to bring in other doctors when needed. Last year she saw a change in my condition and discovered a change that required surgery. Another doctor missed this. Had she not caught it, I might not be able to walk. Prior to doing another procedure she did additional diagnostics that other doctors don't always do. She found another injury (I had no idea of) requiring surgery a few days later. It was life threatening. Had she not caught it I might not be here. There are no magic bullets in treating pain. Often it is a lifetime of hard work, experimentation, treatment, PT and personal resilience. It is important that you have a partner helping you like Dr. Bouffard.
