I've been dealing with nerve pain stemming from cervical radiculopathy. Do not ever acquire this condition or any other acutely painful condition stemming from a chronic issue: the medical world is definitely NOT set up to deal with it. There is no connective tissue between the ER and your PCP or any specialists. Your pain may be the most intense thing you've ever dealt with, but your PCP does not care. You can't get an appointment before your pain meds run out. You can't get hold of anyone at the PCP's clinic who can expedite your appointment due to your pain. ER doctors and PCPs have to be aware of this. But most of them, including my PCP (who will no longer be my PCP shortly), don't care enough to extend themselves just a little bit in order to help. But Dr. Kristian Kemp is not one of those. He's a great guy. He definitely went the extra mile, actually acknowledging my condition, extending prescriptions, prescribing better & stronger meds, and making a referral to the specialist.
