Patient Reviews
Apr 01, 2023
About a year ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. When Dr. Himsl first thought there was a possibility of cancer, rather than quickly suggesting surgery, he took a compassionate and scientific approach. He first suggested a relatively new urine test that confirmed a 40% chance of cancer. He then ordered an MRI which showed three areas of concern. Only then did you suggest a biopsy. Using the MRI as a guide, he overlaid a ultrasound probe view to precisely guide the biopsy. Armed with that information, he sent a sample out for genetic evaluation. The results showed that there is only a 1.6% risk of metastasis in 5 years and 4.1% in 10 years. Based on his conservative methods, he is taking a watch and test approach. Although it required several tests and waiting for results, Dr. Himsl's approach preserved my normal life style versus what I see in several of my friend whose doctors quickly took out their scalpel.
