My mother had a perforated bowel for which she needed emergency surgery, was performed at St. Bernadine's hospital due to the emergency nature of the situation even though she was a Kaiser Permanente member. She was then transferred to a nursing and rehab facility in Montclair, CA. She deteriorated pretty severely at that location and was honestly mistreated, developed a fistula in the area of the bowel surgery, had to be re-hospitalized. We thought she was going to die, she thought she was going to die and started putting affairs in order. Dr. Kong performed follow up surgery and took over management of her care at that point and she made a remarkable full recovery. We went from thinking she was on death's door to getting another full and active decade plus with her, and I 100% credit that to Dr. Kong and his care and treatment. I sincerely believe if it had not been for Dr. Kong we would have lost her. Dr. Kong literally gifted me an additional 10 plus years to spend with my mom. TY!
