Patient Reviews
Aug 05, 2024
Dr. Katus is a nice individual who does lengthy sessions for her evaluations. She operates in a fairly new field of neurology - Functional Movement Disorder. It might be the 21st century but little is known about these disorders which can manifest in wildly differing symptoms from seizures to a myoclonus to sensory disturbances. There are no magical treatment options. But at least Columbia Presbyterian thinks these disorders deserve a neurologist who specializes in FMDs and can provide these patients with the best care that can be expected. Most other NYC hospitals have yet to designate a neurologist who treats FMDs. And that's a shame because the world of neurology now believes that 7-10% of all neuro disorders may be attributable to FMDs. So it's no small problem.

What’s a board certification and why is it important that my provider has one?

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams. While not all specialties have board certifications, if your provider does have one they’ve taken the extra step to master their specialty and to keep up with the latest advancements in their field.
