In 1975, Dr. Schottenfeld repaired the distal end of my right clavicle with a new technique he developed by tying it back to my shoulder blade with Dacron tape. At least that’s how I remember it. My Uncle was then Chief of Anesthesiology at the Houston VA and he called some of his NY colleagues to ask about this ‘radical’ procedure. I remember being wheeled into the OR and Schottenfeld asking me if there was anyone else he needed to speak with. He was a very good sport about my Uncle’s meddling, and his work has served me well during all these 48 years. I still have full mobility and no problems during my twice weekly hot yoga practice.
