Patient Reviews
Mar 19, 2024
I had a five level TLIF fusion surgery performed by Dr Spoonamore. Prior to this surgery I had a three level laminectory, discectomy performed by a neurosurgeon with the understanding that I would eventually need fusion surgery. I knew when the time came as the pain became unbearable. It took fentanyl to control the pain. Dr Spoonamore performed the 5 level fusion at Keck USC Hospital. When I woke up, I immediately felt relief in my left leg. They got me up and I already had more strength in my left leg. Since this surgery, my pain is controlled (I’m off of 190 mg oral opioids which I had been on for over a decade. I am able to walk my dog, hike and even backpack (something I never thought I’d do again). I’m able to ride my motorcycle and partake in most activities. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best, Dr Spoonamore deserves a 12. I have had three spinal surgeries by three different doctors. If you need spinal surgery, I highly recommend Dr Spoonamore!

What’s a board certification and why is it important that my provider has one?

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams. While not all specialties have board certifications, if your provider does have one they’ve taken the extra step to master their specialty and to keep up with the latest advancements in their field.
