We saw Dr. Emery during our recent stay at The James. Dr. Emery displayed the best traits anyone could hope for in a doctor. He has an immense body of medical knowledge and was able to explain complex results and procedures in simple, thoughtful terms. He spent a lot of time with us answering questions, and following back up promptly when he needed to get more information! His greatest asset, though, is the way that he treats patients as people first. Each time he rounded, Dr. Emery sat down in a chair and looked at my husband face to face as he asked and answered questions. He treated my husband as an equal, rather than as an object to be acted upon. Before he left for the week, he made time to come by and say goodbye, even though we were no longer under his care. He is the kind of outstanding physician that we'll remember for years to come!
