This was my first visit with Dr. McCoin and let me just start off with the cons. I waited 30 minutes past my appointment time to be seen, which is frustrating. Labs were also taken that were completely unnecessary. I’m married and have had recent STD testing so I would not have consented to STD testing as it’s simply a waste of money for me currently. Additionally, they tested to see if I had chickenpox immunity, which, of course I do because I had chickenpox as a child (which they asked beforehand). I just don’t appreciate having blood work taken that was completely pointless and is going to be a waste of funds for me at a time when I’m unemployed & pregnant. Every penny matters right now. lastly, I was saddened to hear that there is no guarantee Dr. McCoin will be my doctor for labor and delivery. I don’t like that, personally. As far as everything else goes, bedside manner was good & she was very informative of what I needed to know as a first time mom. No complaints there.

Board Certifications
What’s a board certification and why is it important that my provider has one?

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams. While not all specialties have board certifications, if your provider does have one they’ve taken the extra step to master their specialty and to keep up with the latest advancements in their field.
