My surgery was scheduled very promptly for mid-March of this year. So from diagnosis of skin cancer to surgical removal has been approximately one month. I’m scheduled to have my stitches removed in 5 days. Although told to be prepared to take generic painkiller and ice the wound after surgery on my face three days ago, I’ve required neither. What prompted me to write this review are two things. First the VA’s standard, methodical evaluation that brought the small cancer to quick and I think easy treatment. But something else that has never happened in my now long life. Dr. Trainor called me personally the day after she did her surgery to see how I was doing. No call from one of her assistants asking me to hold for Dr. Trainor. No forewarning to expect a call. It just happened for the first time in my life that a treating physician directly called me to follow up on her care.
