The spine surgery I had with Dr. Burdi restored my quality of life. I used to be very active (exercising, playing with my grandkids daily); however nearly a year ago began experiencing pain and numbness in my left leg. My symptoms were progressively worsening and truly debilitating. By the time an MRI confirmed spondylolisthesis, I could hardly walk. I agreed to surgery, but was increasingly anxious as the date approached, fearing paralysis or other complications.On the day of surgery, the team attached wires to my hands and feet and explained that these would be used to monitor my nervous system throughout the case. Their kindness and reassurance put me at ease, and my surgery was successfully completed after 5 hours. After being discharged home, I actually didn’t need any painkillers and was walking fairly normally again in days. I wore a back brace for 4 months as recommended and with rehabilitation, I’m finally back to my old self. Thanks to Dr. Burdi for his superb care.
