I have been seeing Dr. DePalma since 2015, shortly after I moved to Scottsdale. I had avoided seeing a psychiatrist my whole life up until that point. Being a medical provider myself, I had reservations and shame surrounding mental illness. Aside from society’s stigma on mental illness, it was present in my upbringing and from my experience, also the medical community. I Initially started seeing Dr DePalma to diagnose and treat a condition. My visits were primarily for routine medication refills. It wasn’t until a cascade of traumatic events occurred, when I was really able to see his compassion and concern for my mental and psychological welfare. I had never dealt with such adversity, and felt completely dysregulated. Throughout the ordeal, he never made me feel like I was abnormal, to blame, or in layman terms “a mess. ” I am in a much better place now. There are numerous psychiatrists and mental health professionals out there, but I’ve continued to see Dr. DePalma-not only for his years of experience, calm demeanor and professionalism, but also because he listens to you. As a doctor, it's easier to tell a patient what they should do. Dr DePalma stands out, because I was able to participate in my care with his guidance, which has helped me get to where I am now.

Board Certifications
What’s a board certification and why is it important that my provider has one?

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams. While not all specialties have board certifications, if your provider does have one they’ve taken the extra step to master their specialty and to keep up with the latest advancements in their field.
