First saw Dr. M in 2019 when my son ended up in the hospital and was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. He has treated my son since then, making changes to medication, seeking additional treatment options through his colleagues at Duke, and balancing his colitis meds with the other medications my son takes for other conditions. He always has time for us and responds quickly to any concerns both in person and through the patient portal. I only wish it was easier to get an appointment on short notice, as he’s booked up 8 weeks or more out.I also switched to him for my own needs after being blown off by my previous GI. I had been misdiagnosed and was told a second surgery was necessary to repair a failing Nissen procedure, but a second opinion from him found a condition in my previous notes that had not been addressed and I was given a non-surgical and very manageable treatment for that. It saved me unnecessary surgery and thousands of dollars!
