I recently had Dr. Andrews as my provider during a recent ER visit due to an erythromelalgia flare up that caused severe, widespread pain that could not be managed with what I had at home.Although I was likely incoherent and unable to keep my body still from the pain, he sat and listened to me. He was able to share insight into my condition that other people, even medical providers, haven't been able to do in the last year. Out of necessity, I've done extensive research into EM and was at least partially aware of what he said. My condition is chronic, painful, and debilitating at times. Rarely does it go into full remission. These things I knew, but he reminded me of an OTC medication that I should try to try and ease the symptoms, and to keep taking it. After prescribing pain meds and a NSAID, I was on my way to recovery from the worst flare up I have had thus far.I felt understood, seen, and had a new sense of hope that maybe, hopefully, another provider will know how to help.
