Dr. Schiff, I am an internist who works in a Massachusetts long-term care facility for clients with cognitive disability, since birth or childhood, who are non-verbal. I believe that many are capable of interacting and communicating with us but lack the necessary technology to do this. Have you done any studies on patients with developmental disabilities? I am sure that many parts of their brains are still very functional, probably more than we know. Thanks, Deborah Rich, M.D.
