Dr. Nicole Cirino took me on as a patient after her colleague retired. I was set up with a follow up visit at 30 minutes and upon realizing I had never truly been evaluated, she ended up spending well over an hour with me, at the end of her day when she could have been home with her family. I felt seen, heard and understood in a way I have not experienced with other psychiatrists, which was a very refreshing change from having seen her colleague. She addressed every concern and question I raised and was clearly absorbing my personal information as she was able to repeat things that I had previously stated later in the visit. There were moments when she appeared slightly distant, when she typed a note in the computer and again when she turned her chair around to get some paperwork put of her file cabinet, but upon reflection I realize those moments were necessary, unavoidable and actually helpful (needed paperwork to assess, needed computer to look up information on a referral).
