Dr. Alam had a comprehensive discussion with me about my complicated and challenging medical history, which included painful and disruptive symptoms from female organs. As a child, I also had severe scoliosis:1.) Had to prepare for surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery which took a significant amount of time: A.) 1st, as a patient with a physical therapist, B.) 2nd, I had a partial, body cast from my neck to my waist applied to begin the process of straightening my spine. It was actually a ' walking cast' which empowered my muscles to strengthen. 2.) Subsequently, I had a full body plaster cast built from my chin and neck all the way to my pelvis which prepared me to have surgery for the spinal fusion at the HSS when I was 12. Dr. Alam also listened carefully to all of the painful, inconvenient issues which were caused by my female organs. The inability to control bowel movements caused the most disruption to my daily life.
