Patient Reviews
Feb 18, 2024
Dr Hicks was the first psychiatrist that I saw after two car accidents in less than two weeks and feeling very anxious and confused. He had a practice of his own on Ave H in Temple and I saw him for about two years before he went back to work at the VA Hospital. He did a very thorough assessment of my condition and I had been told that I had ADHD in my teenage years but my mother flushed the Ritalin down the drain after a week. Very professional man, dresses very well and he was a great psychiatrist when I was seeing him. After he went back to the VA Hospital, he wrote a very good referral for my now psychiatrist Dr. Skoglund in Austin. I couldn’t find a better psychiatrist in the entire area that didn’t want to put me on SSRIs and I had allergic reactions to 8 or 9 prior to seeing Dr. Hicks. He did a full ADHD assessment that lasted about an hour or so before writing me a prescription. Other Drs. write them in 10 minutes. It’s why those of us that depend on the meds can’t find them.

Board Certifications
What’s a board certification and why is it important that my provider has one?

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams. While not all specialties have board certifications, if your provider does have one they’ve taken the extra step to master their specialty and to keep up with the latest advancements in their field.
