I visited Dr. Sternenberg to consult about options for Dupuytren's Contracture, because I wanted definitive information about 1) whether anything I'm doing now or could do will change the course of DC, 2) what treatment options exist for my hands as they are now or in the future when DC may be more severe, and 3) whether there's a reason to treat now, even though DC currently has only a minimal impact on my ability to do what I want. I particularly appreciated Dr. S. clearly reflecting the current state of research into DC by saying 'We don't know' in response to 1)...so many physicians and other people who view themselves as experts seem to try to avoid that kind of admission. I also felt as though he provided a thorough, understandable coverage of 2), and gave a clear 'No' in response to 3).Given his knowledge, demeanor, and willingness to listen to my questions & concerns, I'd have no hesitation coming to him for treatment when I decide that the time has come for treatment.
