When my doctor retired, I was assigned Dr. Liao. Just before my former doctor retired, he gave me a prostate exam (the finger one), and told me I was just fine. A few months later, on my first visit to Dr. Liao, he suggested a PSA test and I told him my old doctor didn't believe in them, but insisted on a physical exam. Dr. Liao said he would like to do one anyway, and it's a miracle he did, because my PSA came back at 48. Dr. Liao called me right away and began setting up appts with a urologist who did a biopsy and found my Gleason score off the charts. We immediately began radiation and chemotherapy. My metastatic prostate cancer will never be cured, but it can be controlled and I am still alive 7 yrs later and I thank Dr. Liao for being so diligent.
