Patient Reviews
Aug 27, 2020
She was my "hospitalist" doctor at Sibley and she saved me. I went to the Emergency Room at Sibley hospital 3 times in Feb 2018, also admitted for several days after the 1st and 3rd visit. Searing unbearable pain in left leg and groin. They had to knock me out with Ketamine. The neurosurgeon and pain medicine doctor were initially unable to correctly diagnose. Dr Thotakura sent me for a repeat MRI even though I was going to be discharged again in a day, while there after my 3rd ER visit. That MRI showed the ruptured disc in my back. The chief neurosurgeon said that sending me for that repeat MRI was a "gutsy" call on her part. Until then they did not know what was causing my severe pain. Besides that, she was VERY attentive to me during my entire time in the hospital, and I would highly recommend her. Professional, thorough, and caring.

What’s a board certification and why is it important that my provider has one?

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams. While not all specialties have board certifications, if your provider does have one they’ve taken the extra step to master their specialty and to keep up with the latest advancements in their field.
