Dr. Beatty figured out and confirmed via spinal tap that I was having great difficulty walking because of spinal fluid on my brain This problem occurred several months following severe brain trauma with a small brain bleed that left me unconscious following a fall on ice in January 2019.Thanksgiving week 2019, this neurosurgeon placed a shunt on my brain to remove the excess fluid, allowing me to walk normally again. Unfortunately, I awoke from the surgery with permanent hearing loss in both ears. Eventually another audio specialist from Kansas University indicated the hearing loss was caused by the fall 10 months prior to the surgery. Regardless, although I now need hearing aids, I walk normally once again.
